Manual Lymph Drainage/Combined Decompression Therapy

Lymphedema (chronic swelling) occurs when an interruption of lymphatic flow results in the accumulation of lymphatic fluid causing abnormal swelling in the arms, legs, feet, breast, abdomen, neck or head. When lymphatic vessels are impaired, missing or when lymph nodes are removed, the remaining lymph pathways become congested or blocked. This condition is often the result of surgery, especially breast or orthopedic surgery, radiation, infection or trauma. MLD, the first component of CDT, is the use of slow, gentle, rhythmic movements mimicking the pumping of lymphatic fluid through the body. This allows the congested fluid, trapped proteins, and waste products to slowly and safely flow out through healthy lymph vessels. The second component is compression bandaging which increases drainage and prevents fluid from refilling. Skin care, therapeutic exercises, education, nutrition and compression stockings/sleeves are the additional components that work together to improve the flow of lymphatic fluid and maintain the reduction of swelling. Please, if you or anyone you know has lymphedema before it is irreversible, call 954-566-0444 and make an appointment for an evaluation. We have available to you an independent Vodder certified MLD/CDT therapist.

Reflexology

This system of massage is similar to acupressure in that pressure is applied to reflex points of the feet and/or hands that correspond to individual organs and parts of the body. It releases blocked energy, improves nerve and blood supply to the reflex areas of the body, assists the body in removing waste crystallization deposits in the feet and/or hands. By working these specific points the therapist helps your body achieve balance. The result is a wonderful relaxed feeling as if your whole body had been massaged.

Reiki

Rei means “universal” and refers to the spiritual dimension of the soul. Ki means “the vital life force energy that flows through all living things.” This is a hand healing technique thousands of years old. This is a very simple yet powerful technique that can balance the body’s energies, promote a state of total relaxation and can adjust itself according to the needs of the recipient.

Massage Therapies

Cranial Sacral Therapy

A light touch approach, approximately 5 grams of pressure, to various parts of your body which can relieve tensions deep within your body to relieve pain and dysfunction. Ultimately it improves whole body health and performance. The Cranial Sacral System envelops the brain and spinal cord. Within the system is the production, circulation, and re-absorption of the Cerebral Spinal Fluid. Dysfunctions develop when day to day stressors, life time trauma, illness or events can cause tension and restrictions in this system. This modality monitors the rhythm of your fluid that is flowing around your central nervous system, feeling areas of weak fluid flow or tissue restrictions which potentially affect the brain and spinal cord. This can compromise the function of every other system in your body. CST releases the tissues, improves the flow of Cerebral Spinal Fluid and improves the form and functions of your Central Nervous System. A session can last up to one hour or more, can be done alone or integrated with other therapies as needed. Your experience is highly individualized, is generally relaxing with an overall good feeling. Your experience and/or process can last
